Our Story
Why We Are Here
Environment Services was founded in the UK in 2016, growing out of Simon's work in environmental monitoring for the demolition industry in London. By 2019, the company had made a deliberate and defining decision: to relocate entirely to Libya.
It wasn't an obvious move, but it was a considered one. Debbie, Simon's business partner, had already made the journey by retiring from international banking and bringing decades of senior international business experience and her MBA to bear on her own projects in Libya. Simon followed, and together they recognised something that would shape everything that came after: in the UK or the United States, they were two highly qualified professionals among millions doing similar work. In Libya, they could add real, tangible value in ways that simply weren't possible in saturated Western markets.
By 2020, the UK operations had wound down, and Libya had become home in the fullest sense. ES was reborn as a fully Libyan company — not a foreign consultancy operating at arm's length, but a business with genuine roots and long-term commitment to the country.
The Orkin franchise followed naturally from that same philosophy. Recognising that no pest management company in Libya was meeting international professional standards, Simon and Debbie saw an opportunity to change that. Becoming the Orkin franchise holder for Libya wasn't simply a commercial decision — it was an extension of a core belief that Libya deserves the same quality of environmental and agricultural services available anywhere else in the world.
Simon's own background spans environmental management, precision agriculture, satellite technology, and software development — a combination of disciplines that, in most markets, would remain separate specialisms. In Libya's developing agricultural sector, they converge into something genuinely useful. His MSc in Environmental Management, decades of experience with satellite systems, and lifelong interest in farming and food production have found their fullest expression here, in a country where the potential for technology-driven agriculture is enormous and largely untapped.
That is why ES exists, and why we are here.
